“Chestnuts roasting on an open fire Jack Frost nipping at your nose…”
Ahhh it’s my favourite time of year again! And yes, open fires in my part of the world at this time of the year, will usually get a hefty fine…bushfires & such being a major concern in an Aussie summer. But even though we have sun, sand & sea at Christmas, I still love the tradition of a snowy candlelit scene, Santa & his sleigh & all things Christmas!
As we roll into December, I am struck by the visible shift in the way people interact with each other. Everyone is a little more compassionate, a little more loving to total strangers & a little more merrier (although that could be the eggnog). Even people who don’t celebrate Christmas are swept up in the good will toward all men! If only we could carry this energy through with us for the other 11 months of the year.
December is also the month to take stock of the year that has been. And well I think it’s been a pretty brilliant year! Life is wonderful. Not because it’s been perfect & everything has gone right for me, ’cause it hasn’t, but because every day I got to wake up in my body, with my intelligence & with my sense of humour & go out into the world & experience LIFE!!! I got to wriggle my toes in the sand as the water lapped around my ankles. I got to hear the defiant chirp of my friendly willy wagtail as he woke me nearly every morning. I got to feel the sun on my back & the wind on my face but most of all I got to hang out with some of my most favourite people – my nieces & nephews – & just be in awe of how they see the world, and for that I am truly grateful for the year that has been.
In the final days of 2012, organise your priorities – what dreams do you have for the new year? Prioritise what’s important to you. The things at the top of your list should be the things that bring you joy! They should receive your highest attention! Why? Because when we do what we love, more of what we love will follow. Could it be any simpler?
Celebrate all that you have done this year, celebrate all that is to come, but most of all celebrate that with love all things are possible.
Until Next Time…Think Big & Blossom!
